Passenger counts at the Williamsport Regional Airport continue to sustain the 24% monthly increase first noted back in the first quarter of 1997. Improved schedule, the addition of state-of-the-art aircraft, competitive ticket pricing, and a proactive marketing approach by airport administration are among the factors believed responsive for this welcome increase in airline passenger traffic.
Thomas J. Hart, Executive Director, stated that the figures showing improved airline activity at Williamsport Regional Airport are a very important, positive element in building a better service for the market area. This past September, for example, US Airways Express added a 5th daily round trip flight to Pittsburgh to handle the demand that had been developed through the first 3 quarters of 1997, Hart noted.
As of October 31st, 83,612 passengers passed through Williamsport Regional Airport, up from 63,615 that used the airport in 1996.
